(The Project)
The Calçada da Ajuda winds up from the riverside at Belém toward the Palácio Nacional, through a quarter that grew in the orbit of the royal court. At number 110, a historic palace is fully restored under the design of Samuel Torres de Carvalho Arquitetura, returned to residential life.

Momentum's imagery accompanies the restoration from above and within. An aerial view places the palace in the dense, layered fabric of Ajuda; exterior views hold its presence on the calçada; and an extensive interior series follows the dialogue between preserved character and contemporary comfort that defines the project.
(The Craft)
Heritage work rewards patience. As in our other rehabilitation projects, everything rests on the materials being true, with old stone and new surfaces rendered with equal care, and on the soft western light of this part of Lisbon, left to do the storytelling.
(Final thoughts)
The building already had its future. Our job was to show it.
